God has a way of dragging me along into projects like this one. After studying the Old Testament book of Jeremiah, I feel He is leading me to share my thoughts on this book. Specifically, it is my hope that Jeremiah will serve as an encouragement to ministers struggling with the pressures of ministry.
Jeremiah served the Lord for 40 years as God's spokesman to a sinful, unappreciative nation. He often doubted his call and even his God. But God reassured him often and Jeremiah remained faithful.
It is my hope that through this blog, I will be able to encourage those in the ministry who, like Jeremiah, face the struggles of ministry. I hope that others will be encouraged to remain faithful to their call. At times this will come as a warm reassurance from the Lord. At other times, we'll find a stern repremand as we seek to find our self-pity affirmed by our Lord (He'll not play along).
As my theme, I've chosen the Lord's words to Jeremiah in response to the prophet's discontent and distrust. In Jeremiah 15:19, the Lord says: "If you repent, I will restore you that you may serve me."
May the Lord encourage us all as we serve Him and His church.
From Grace,
George
